Our Mission

Our mission is to reduce violence in the City of Buffalo and its surrounding areas. We are a coalition of community-based organizations whose collective passion, commitment, energy and expertise are focused on stopping violence and helping the community to make their neighborhoods a safer place to live. We gain strength for this vital work through one another’s faith; and are certain our inclusive, collective efforts will prevail.

Violence diminishes us all and we will successfully lead the fight to make it the rare exception rather than an everyday occurrence. We commit to working with young people to revolutionize the way they think, and help them to re-define accomplishment and identify real options for a safe and productive life. This is our vision. Our achievements will lead other communities to ask how we did it.

As our successes have grown in number so has the need for our services and even though we are not funded, STVC’s executive team and member organizations designed ways to coordinate the delivery of these services in an effective and sustainable manner. Member organizations work together as one to respond to the needs of our constituents in order to improve our capacity to serve. Our collaborative process has contributed to the strong reputation we have built within the community where we are known as the “Peacemakers of Buffalo.” STVC’s programs and services focus on three primary areas: Youth Prevention and Mentoring Services, Outreach and Family Support Services and Community Outreach.

As we continue in our mission to respond to the needs of the people by reducing violence in our community we ask for your continual support and donations to help us in our cause. We also invite you to come to our community meetings held 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month at 6pm – 7:30 pm at the United Way located at 742 Delaware and Summer St. We all can make a difference so please Help Us – Help You – Make Our Community A Safer Place.
